چکیده

We address the nonperturbative effects associated with soft charm quarks in inclusive B decays. Such corrections are allowed by the OPE, but have largely escaped attention so far. The related four-quark ‘double heavy’ expectation values of the form 〈B|b̄c c̄b|B〉 are computed in the 1/mc expansion by integrating out the charm field to one and two loops. A significant enhancement of the two-loop coefficients has been noted. A method is suggested for evaluating the expectation values of the higher-order b-quark operators required to calculate charm expectation values, free from the overly large ambiguities of dimensional analyses. The soft-charm effects were found generally at the level of 0.5% in Γsl(b→ c); however, as a result of cancellations the net impact should be smaller. We propose a direct way to search for such effects in the data. Finally, we discuss the relation of the soft charm corrections in inclusive decays with the ‘Intrinsic Charm’ ansatz. ∗ On leave of absence from St. Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute, Gatchina, St. Petersburg 188300, Russia

Bc decays from highly improved staggered quarks and NRQCD

We calculate semileptonic form factors for the decays Bc→ ηc lν and Bc→ J/ψ lν over the entire q2 range, using a highly improved lattice quark action for charm at several lattice spacings down to a = 0.045 fm. We have two ways of treating the b quark: either with an O(αs) improved NRQCD formalism or by extrapolating a heavy mass mh to mb in the relativistic formalism. Comparison of the two appr...

Polarization Effects

The dominant contribution to the inclusive decays of B mesons into the charm-strangeness mesons D s and D * s is expected to be given by the partonic process b → c + (D − s , D * − s). We determine the nonperturbative O(1/m 2 b) and the O(α s) radiative corrections to b → c + (D − s , D * − s) and thereby to the inclusive decays ¯ B → X c + (D − s , D * − s). New approach for measuring ||Vub|| at future B factories.

It is suggested that the measurements of hadronic invariant mass (mX) distributons in the inclusive B → Xc(u)lν decays can be useful in extracting the CKM matrix element |Vub|. We investigated hadronic invariant mass distributions within the various theoretical models of HQET, FAC and chiral lagrangian as well as ACCMM model. It is also emphasized that the mX distribution even at the region mX ...

The Color - Octet intrinsic charm in η ′ and B → η ′ X decays

Color-octet mechanism for the decay B → η′X is proposed to explain the large branching ratio of Br(B → η′X) ∼ 1 × 10−3 recently announced by CLEO. We argue that the inclusive η′ production in B decays may dominantly come from the Cabbibo favored b → (c̄c)8s process where c̄c pair is in a color-octet configuration, and followed by the nonperturbative transition (c̄c)8 → η′X. The color-octet intrins...
